The main reason why the CCR is so important is because it is where when you finish your film opening, you stop and look back to your process. Where you finally take a minute and reflect on your project once you have finished the opening scene. Though I do have to follow 4 questions (which I will touch on later) and answer them in depth in my CCR, I still have to come up with a creative idea and how I plan to connect visually to my audience through my CCR.
Since I do have to make my CCR interesting and appealing to whoever's watching, my teacher gave my class some examples or ideas that we could incorporate and utilize in our CCR. Some being a presentation with a voice over, a fake talk show, an enhanced podcast, and a director commentator. I know I must used two different media products and mediums for my CCR, so I will most likely split the four questions equally between them.
Now about the most important aspect of the CCR,
the actual response.
Question 1-
The first questions of the bunch is asking about how my product use or challenge conventions (genre) and how it represents social issues or groups.
So I learned that for this question, I should begin with talking about my genre and typical content and technical characteristics of that genre. This would also be a good time to reference my horror blog posting and talk about my research during the making of that blog. Using my research from my blog would indicate that I would also need to cite, whether at the end like rolling credits, or at the end of the film just on screen.
During the answering of this question, I also have to explain whether I went along to the stereotype of my genre or if I challenged it and decided to take a different route on my genre and look at it from an uncommon way. I can also explain how I may have chosen certain aspects of my project to stick to the typical horror genre, but then switched to a different approach the the horror genre.
Question 2-
The next question is asking about how my product and opening scene will engage with my audience. This question also asks me to elaborate on my distribution plan. How I think about managing my product to the public as a real media text and through what variety of mediums to appeal to my target audience.
Though all of the four questions are very important, this question is very important to go along with your finished opening scene project. For example, describing and giving specific examples on how I will distribute and make my media project available to the public is vital. To do this however, I have to start by talking about my target audience and who my opening scene is trying to reach to. This includes using a specific age range (numbers, not generations), gender, and a short list of the likes and dislikes of my target audience so I can attempt to appeal to them more.
After I explain WHO is my target audience, I have to explain WHY. Meaning, I have to explain why my opening scene targets this specific group of people out of everyone. What specific techniques and messages appeal to this group of people. Like I mentioned before, I also have to talk about my distribution plan. What social platforms or different mediums will I use to not only distribute my piece, but also to reach my target audience more adequately.
Question 3-
The third questions is asking about me specifically and my progress and abilities. It asks how my production skills have improved, developed, and grew throughout the duration of this project. This also means I have to talk about how my growth through this project helped me traverse the project easier and with less problems in my way.
This question is here so I can really reflect on myself through all the stage of this project. I can talk about my research and planning stage and how that affected my methods through this project. This could also have altered the way I approached and though of this project. This question also allows me to talk about any troubles, challenges, or difficulties that I encountered throughout the process of my piece and how I overcame and solved them.
Question 4-
The last questions touches on the technology and appliances I used throughout my filming or editing process. It asks how I integrated technology including certain software, online sites, or hardware in this project and how it helped or was a drawback for my plan.
Most certainly, I have to list all the equipment I used such as a camera/phone, tripod, any lighting equipment, drones, microphones, etc. However, I also have to elaborate on how each of them helped me with the making of my project. I have to talk about my editing software too and any online sites I may have used like Google Blogger, Canva, and Celtx.
This is also a great question to add any sites I used for any copyright free music that I found and explain more about that. I could also elaborate on any tech problems or obstacles that I had to solve and even show how I learned how to use new technology if necessary.
Final Statement-
Even though the four questions would already be finished by now, my teacher thought making a short final statement would be perfect for the CCR. This final statement would be one in which I just discuses what was learned as a whole though the project and what I would improve or change if I could do this project again.
